HOSA was established in 1976 under the name HOSA: Health Occupation Students of America. The acronym has since been dropped and replaced with Future Health Professionals in order to be more inclusive of our international members. As stated the official HOSA website (hosa.org), "The purpose of the HOSA organization is to develop leadership and technical HOSA skill competencies through a program of motivation, awareness and recognition, which is an integral part of the Health Science Education instructional program." What this means to us at the University of Washington is that we will provide an environment for pre-health professional students to refine their knowledge and leadership skills through local, state, and national opportunities. We are focused on service, networking and skill training for our state and national conferences. Our chapter was founded on the University of Washington campus in September 2013 and is growing faster than we could have ever imagined. We invite you to attend a meeting to learn about what opportunities we are currently involved with.
